Began teaching in 1999, studied for many years with Alan Grundy in Dublin school of guitar. Has over 20 years experience playing with various bands, original artists and tribute acts countrywide, a member of the RGT and experienced in teaching guitar and ukulele on a one to one basis and group classes. I regularly enter candidates for exams with ABRSM, RIAM, RGT, VCM and LCM.
Kieran McDonnell is an accomplished Irish guitarist, bassist, arranger, and music educator based in the Dublin and Drogheda region. A long-standing member of the teaching faculty at Toccata House Music School, Kieran has dedicated many years to inspiring musicians of all ages and abilities, earning a reputation as one of the school’s most experienced and respected teachers. He teaches guitar, bass, ukulele, musicianship and music theory, combining technical excellence with a patient, encouraging approach that helps every student reach their full potential.
As a performer, Kieran has built an extensive career playing with a variety of bands and live productions across Ireland and abroad. His versatility allows him to move effortlessly between rock, blues, pop, classical and contemporary styles, bringing authenticity and musicianship to every performance. Whether on stage or in the classroom, he is recognised for his professionalism, creativity and deep understanding of music.
Beyond performance and teaching, Kieran is an accomplished arranger who enjoys creating original guitar and ensemble arrangements tailored to his students and performers. His arrangements are known for making complex music approachable while remaining faithful to the spirit of the original works, allowing musicians to grow in both confidence and musicality.
Kieran is also a gifted visual artist whose talent for drawing reflects the same creativity, precision and attention to detail found in his music. His artistic eye complements his work as a musician, demonstrating a lifelong commitment to creativity across multiple disciplines.
