Violin and Music Theory Teacher

Specialization: Classical and Traditional Violin and Music Theory

She graduated with a Bachelors of Music, and Master of Music from the University College Dublin with First Class Honours in both, where she was also a member of the UCD Symphony Orchestra for 2 years.

 

At the age of seven Maia began to study violin under the tutelage of Irine Corverda. As a young teen, she studied with Melanie Briggs Cull (second violinist with RTE National Symphony Orchestra) and completed all of her graded exams in violin and theory with RIAM and ABRSM.

 

Maia was one of the founding members of the Julianstown Youth Orchestra in 2010, conducted by Fergus Sheil, where she held the position of a principal violinist for five years. During this time, Maia gained valuable experience in leading, conducting, and ensemble playing and performed annually including the IAYO Festival of Youth Orchestras in the National Concert Hall, and the world premiere of a composition by Northern Irish composer Brian Irvine featuring baritone Sean Boylan. She was also a member of the Dublin Youth Orchestra for many years.

 

Maia was fortunate over the years to have the opportunity to attend many masterclasses including those with Ilya Gringolts, and Tasmin Little. She has taught for many years and is familiar with Royal Irish Academy of Music, Dublin, Associated Board Uk and Victoria College of Music, Uk syllabi.
