Wind Instruments - Flute, Saxophone, Clarinet, Recorder, Tin Whistle

The wind (or woodwind) family of instruments includes flutes, clarinets, saxophones, and recorders, as well as tin whistles. When air flows into the mouthpiece, a sound is created inside a resonator and a column of air vibrates. The volume, pitch, and tone of the instrument change as the fingers open/close the holes or press a key.

All our wind instrument lessons are taught by experts, and available both in-school and online.

Drum

With Drum Lessons, students will quickly learn some simple rhythms using the high hat, snare, and kick drum. Once the timing, dynamics, and coordination have been refined, students will learn more intricate rhythms using drumming embellishments to add finesse to those beats.

Vocal Coaching - Classical and Musical Theatre

Taught by expert vocal teachers and available both in-school and online. Our singing lessons are available in both classical and musical theatre in two different styles. The lesson is designed to help both new and experienced singers of all ages to get the most out of their natural instrument.

Extra lessons in preparation for performances, auditions, or examinations are also available.

Musicianship Exams

Music theory is a language and a fundamental knowledge requirement for becoming your own musician. It encompasses three general areas, the rudiments (learning Notation, Key Signatures, Scales, Rhythmic Patterns Harmony etc…); the study of ancient music writings, and thirdly (Musicology) the study of the general processes and principles in music.

Junior & Leaving Cert Music Exams

Junior & Leaving Cert Music Exams

In total there are 400 marks available for the Leaving Certificate Music Exam. The Written Paper is worth 200 marks (50%) of this and takes place in June.

The Core Practical exam is worth 100 marks (25%) of this and is usually examined around Easter time. Students then take an Elective from Composition, Aural or Performance. Most students take the Performing Elective which is then done with the Core Practical and this is then worth an extra 100 marks (25%).

This brings the total marks for Performance to 200 marks (50%)

  • The Leaving Cert Music Programme covers all aspects of the written papers for Leaving Cert Music. This includes melody writing and composition, set works, Irish music, and unprepared history.
  • And our lessons are taught by qualified and experienced music teachers, who have many years experience of teaching both junior and leaving cert music exams.
